I received my Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1983 and my Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1986. I am admitted to practice before the Texas Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Western, and Eastern Districts of Texas. I am also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Western, and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma.

I have been certified as a specialist in Consumer and Commercial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization with practice focusing on the defense of individual and class action suits under state and federal consumer statutes, professional liability defense, and compliance issues for members of the collection industry. I have substantial experience defending collection agencies, law firms, debt buyers, and creditors in consumer litigation in Texas.

My professional defense work includes representation of realtors, insurance agents and brokers, lawyers, and other professionals.

I am a frequent lecturer and author on defense and compliance issues facing the legal malpractice, collection, credit, and debt buying industries and have taught at the University of Houston Law Center’s Law School.

I am a past member of the board of directors for ACA International and the past chairman of the Members’ Attorney Program, an internal committee within ACA International. I have served as Defense Bar Committee Chair for the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys (NARCA).
